In this technical field role, you’ll collect and analyze real-world traffic information that supports Traffic Engineering studies, transportation planning, and responses to community concerns. Your work will provide valuable data used to better understand traffic patterns and support decisions that impact County roadways. You’ll spend time in the field installing and maintaining traffic counters, road tubes, video cameras, radar units, and other specialized equipment used to measure traffic volume, speed, delays, and intersection movements. You’ll also conduct traffic counts and assist with specialized studies related to speed zones, intersections, and potential traffic signal locations. Beyond fieldwork, you’ll organize, calculate, and enter collected data, prepare reports and memorandums, and maintain information related to traffic crashes, ordinances, and roadway operations. You’ll help turn field observations and raw data into useful information that supports traffic engineering decisions and roadway improvements. You’ll also investigate citizen requests and concerns, provide information, and help identify solutions in accordance with state and federal requirements. Depending on operational needs, you may assist with hands-on traffic signing installation, maintenance, or repair activities. If you enjoy working both outdoors and with technology, have an eye for detail, and like using data to solve real-world problems, this is an opportunity to contribute directly to safer and more efficient transportation throughout our community.
