About The Position

The City of Everett is accepting applications for a Traffic Operations Supervisor. This role is responsible for supervising the maintenance and operations of the City's street lights, traffic control signals, pavement markings, and signage. The work involves supervising the manufacture, erection, and maintenance of traffic control devices (signals & signs), street lighting, and the marking of streets for proper traffic control. The position requires skills in installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the electrical systems of traffic signals and related electrical equipment, adhering to standard electrical trade practices. Supervision is exercised over regular and seasonal employees. While general plans and policies are determined in consultation with the City Traffic Engineer or their designee, employees are expected to exercise independent judgment in daily operations. The role includes inspecting completed projects and reviewing reports.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a high school or vocational school.
  • Three (3) years of related journey level electrical experience.
  • Extensive experience in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control signals, pavement markings and signage.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience and/or training.
  • Possession of a Washington State ELO1 electrician license.
  • Ability to obtain a QEW-3 qualifying level within the first 90 days of hire through the City of Everett’s Qualified Electrical Worker Safety Program.
  • Possession of a current International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II OR an IMSA Signs and Markings Level II certification, or ability to complete certification within one year of hiring.
  • Possession of a valid driver license at the date of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Driver License within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • An IMSA Traffic Signal Sr. Field Technician Level III certification is highly desirable.
  • IMSA Roadway Lighting Level I certification is also highly desirable.
