About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has a broad mandate and is committed to maintaining and improving New Brunswick’s public infrastructure. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s mission is to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and government services to the public. The department is responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, and also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

Requirements

  • A two (2) year post‑secondary diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology program.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) or Registered as a Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with a Canadian regulatory body.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of sign design standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with CADD (Computer Aided Drafting and Design).
  • Experience with engineering software MicroStation and ArcMap.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing signing and lighting plans for grading and paving projects and contracts.
  • Preparing detailed sign plans, including proposed sign messaging for public viewing.
  • Preparing detailed plans, including regulatory signing of new or revised highway signage.
  • Preparing shop drawings for sign fabrication by the Sign Shop.
  • Maintaining the Provincial inventory database of Department-owned highway lighting assets.
  • Preparing and maintaining the inventories of guide signage, regulatory signage, and commercial signage across the Province, within internal systems.
