About The Position

The Traffic Design Support Specialist supports the Traffic Design team by coordinating project intake, managing workflow, maintaining project records, and providing entry-level drafting support to ensure projects are delivered accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in a Coordinator, Administrative, or Project Support role.
  • Entry-level experience with AutoCAD for drafting and design work.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in traffic management, road safety, or the construction industry is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with vehicle tracking systems and Google Earth is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review incoming drawing requests
  • Verify required project information has been received in conformance
  • Create job numbers and tickets (Ticketing System)
  • Create and organize project folders and file structures in shared Drive
  • Upload completed drawings and project files
  • Enter sales items, charges, and required ticket information and complete tickets
  • Send Traffic Accommodation Strategy (TAS) questionnaires and supporting documentation
  • Maintain templates, forms, and department resources
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process documentation
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers, On-Street Services (OSS), Engineers, and internal departments
  • Work closely with the Lead Hand to prioritize and distribute incoming work (rushes)
  • Follow up on outstanding information requests
  • Coordinate revisions and date changes
  • Communicate project updates and requirements between stakeholders
  • Set up new drawings using ATS templates
  • Insert base-maps, geolocation data, sign libraries, and project information
  • Update existing drawings with revisions, date changes, and City or customer-requested modifications.
  • Update title blocks, notes, legends, and project information
  • Create cover pages, overview sheets, and simple drawing layouts
  • Locate and reference traffic manuals, templates, logos, and drafting resources
  • Research project locations using Google Maps, Street View, and available mapping tools
  • Identify speed limits, bus routes, truck routes, and other relevant site information
  • Assist senior drafters with drawing preparation and production tasks
  • Submit drawings for review and incorporate feedback from drafters, supervisors, engineers, and governing authorities
  • Perform drawing quality checks using department checklists and procedures
  • Learn and apply ATS, municipal, and provincial traffic accommodation standards
