About The Position
Spartan Safety Services is seeking a Traffic Controller for an entry-level position. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety of construction sites by managing traffic flow and protecting laborers. The company is committed to employee development, offering on-the-job training, certifications, and opportunities for overtime. No prior experience is necessary, and the position starts at $14.50-$15.50 per hour. The Traffic Controller will be responsible for creating safe work zones, setting up traffic control devices, and maintaining constant awareness of construction and traffic activities. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory. This is a general labor position with promotion opportunities.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule
- Excellent communication skills
- Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain
- Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug free status
- Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required
- The position does not allow for frequent breaks
- Be able to lift 50 pounds
- Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties
- Have reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Responsibilities
- Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips according to ATSSA and DOT regulations
- Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site
- Complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner before leaving the last job site
- Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright specific policy
- Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems
- Review start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app
- Read and understand Wright safety manual and employee handbook
- Reports directly to a Field Supervisor
- Other job duties as assigned
