About The Position

Western Massachusetts Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a motivated Trades Worker to contribute directly to the upkeep and improvement of buildings and infrastructure through hands-on work in construction, maintenance, and repair. This role supports skilled tradespeople across multiple disciplines—including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and more—by providing essential assistance on both large-scale projects and smaller, independent tasks. The position is ideal for individuals who take pride in practical problem-solving, value teamwork, and are eager to build their skills while maintaining the functionality and safety of critical facilities. As a Trades Worker, you will be actively involved in everything from equipment setup and basic repairs to preventive maintenance and documentation. This is a great opportunity to grow within a supportive environment where no two days are the same. With a mix of physical activity, technical work, and the chance to learn from seasoned professionals, the role offers a rewarding experience for those who enjoy hands-on tasks that make a real difference. Participation in maintenance stand-by duties ensures ongoing development and the chance to contribute to a team that keeps operations running smoothly around the clock.

  • Apply proper methods for caring for tools and equipment, ensuring safety and longevity of materials used.

Responsibilities
