About The Position

As a Trade Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all import and export activities comply with applicable Canadian, U.S., and international trade regulations. Your expertise will help reduce compliance risks, support operational efficiency, and strengthen the organization's global supply chain activities.

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Customs, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in trade compliance, customs compliance, or international logistics.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting customs audits.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing import databases.
  • Solid understanding of country-of-origin determination and customs compliance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of North American and international trade regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
  • CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) certification.
  • CITT (Canada's Logistics Association) certification.
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of import and export activities with applicable Canadian, U.S., and international trade regulations.
  • Manage tariff classification, customs duties, country-of-origin requirements, and customs valuation activities.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal and external compliance and customs audits.
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation, records, and import databases.
  • Develop, update, and improve trade compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide guidance and training to cross-functional teams on trade compliance best practices.
  • Analyze and resolve customs clearance issues and shipment delays.
  • Support duty optimization initiatives, including USMCA/CUSMA qualification and duty-saving opportunities.
  • Review and validate shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, permits, certificates, and related records.
  • Coordinate activities with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure smooth international operations.
