About The Position

The Trade Compliance Specialist NA is responsible for the administration and oversight of functions associated with the importation of goods by Gordon Food Service (Limson). Performs monthly and quarterly reviews and verifications of import data and records. Acts as a liaison between the company and its foreign suppliers in regards to export document requirements, access to imported product literature and specifications, extended supply chain records.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years experience in an international trade work environment in companies with large import/export operations (US or Canada).
  • Experience and strong skill set for data management and analysis.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of tariff classification principles (GIR).
  • In-depth understanding of customs valuation methods and application of FTA specific rules of origin.
  • Ability to maintain and analyze large tariff bases of foreign vendors and imported items.
  • Knowledge and experience in filing individual and blanket corrections.
  • Knowledge of the various PGA’s and OGD’s within North America.
  • Experience with imports regulated by CFIA and GAC (primarily TRQ subject goods).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Results oriented with strong determination to succeed.
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to learning and desire for personal and professional growth.
  • Candidates will be tested for excel proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related field is preferred.
  • CCS or CTCS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains procedures ensuring the consistency and accuracy of the import process.
  • Develops and maintains a database of import permits, licenses, for both Canada and the US.
  • Supports the compliance team with special projects related to imports, exports and return.
  • Provides support for compliance projects and verifications initiated by various Federal Agencies.
  • Interacts with third party service providers in the area of trade compliance and supply chain risk.
  • Tracks corrective action efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
