About The Position

We are hiring a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Purchasing team! Trade compliance plays a meaningful role in supporting Watkins’ global operations. In this role, you will support international trade compliance requirements by helping ensure imports and exports meet applicable regulations, documentation standards, and audit expectations. You will work closely with sourcing, logistics, finance, legal, IT, and other cross‑functional partners to maintain accurate trade data, interpret regulatory requirements, and support customs filings, corrections, and claims. Your work helps protect the business while improving efficiency and consistency across trade processes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with sophisticated data, applying regulatory guidance, and collaborating across teams to identify issues, close gaps, and support compliant global trade operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university
  • Three years of experience in import, export, and trade compliance
  • Solid understanding of international trade regulations and compliance documentation
  • Experience supporting customs filings, corrections, audits, and claims
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • ERP system experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and track KPIs
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Power BI experience preferred
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
  • CCS Certified Customs Specialist and/or CES Certified Export Specialist preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support trade compliance master data, including HTS classifications, Schedule B, ECCN, COO, and related elements, as well as reviewing import and export documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with sourcing teams to obtain and maintain Certificates of Origin (COO), ensuring accurate country‑of‑origin data and alignment with USMCA and other trade requirements.
  • Support Post Summary Corrections (PSC), Periodic Monthly Statements (PMS), CF28s, and CF29s while compiling documentation to support compliance inquiries and filings.
  • Assist with generating reports and tracking KPIs to monitor trade compliance performance, identify trends, and support operational efficiency.
  • Support the development, review, and implementation of compliance procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Assist with internal audits, investigations, and the resolution of trade compliance issues, including identifying compliance gaps and supporting corrective actions.
  • Partner with logistics, finance, IT, legal, IP, sourcing, marketing, warranty, and other teams to support claims, calculate potential refunds, resolve discrepancies, and close process or documentation gaps.
