About The Position

Eventive Sports, located in Birmingham, AL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Seasonal Tournament Services Intern! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management. The Principal Charity Classic is accepting applications for the 2027 Tournament Intern program. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while gaining experience in a range of event management tasks. The Principal Charity Classic (PCC) is an annual PGA TOUR Champions event held at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, IA. The event attracts over 60,000 spectators, requires over 1,200 volunteers and partners with 250+ corporate sponsors. The event is televised internationally on the GOLF Channel and is one of the biggest sporting events in the state of Iowa. Since 2007, the tournament has contributed over $83 million in support of youth focused initiatives. Principal Charity Classic interns will work alongside full-time staff on many aspects of the event. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently on multiple projects, and a willingness to go above and beyond for tournament stakeholders. Interns will be asked to take ownership of key projects and will gain strong professional experience. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in sports management, marketing, communications, event management, or related field.

Requirements

  • Must be available June 2 – 6, 2027 for the duration of tournament week
  • HS Diploma (required)
  • Must be 18+ yrs.
  • Valid DL
  • Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects,
  • Flexibility, punctuality, and willingness to work evenings, long hours, and weekends
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Training in the ticketing system TIXR will be provided; past ticketing platform experience is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and execution of various events – including but not limited to, sponsorship prospect events, tournament pro-ams, corporate hospitality, community engagement events, volunteer appreciation, and junior clinics.
  • Assist in creating, distributing, and troubleshooting client ticketing dashboards. Assist sponsors and ticket holders with account inquiries and package details.
  • Interact with current and prospective sponsors and ticket purchasers by phone, email, and in-person.
  • Assist in organizing and distributing tournament merchandise for sponsors, staff, stakeholders, and spectators.
  • Assist in creating planned content across digital, printed, and in person formats.
  • Work with tournament staff and media partners to pitch tournament-related story lines and ideas to increase coverage of the PCC leading up to and during tournament week.
  • Assist staff on various projects leading up to tournament week, including but not limited to: access credential management, client services, honorary observers, preparing mass mailings, and moving to/from tournament headquarters.
