PennEngineering is seeking a Toolroom Engineer for our Danboro, PA team. The Toolroom Engineer supports the toolroom that services the manufacturing of fasteners, providing hands-on CNC programming, tooling, and process expertise across grinding, EDM, milling, turning, polishing, heat treatment, and coating operations. This role drives equipment modernization, cost savings, tool life improvement, and automation initiatives that keep the toolroom running at peak capability. Requirements

Minimum of 3-5 years of toolroom experience with hands-on CNC machining.
Associate's Degree in relevant discipline
Proficient with Mastercam programming software.
Experience programming Mazak (Mazatrol), conversational programming, and G-code.
Hands-on experience with wire and ram EDM, CNC milling, CNC grinding, turning, and polishing.
Working knowledge of heat treatment and PVD coating processes.
Experience conducting tool life analysis and failure mode studies.
Demonstrated track record of cost savings, equipment modernization, and capital project execution.
Proven project leadership ability and successful record of completing engineering assignments.
Visual acuity for detailed work.
Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and waist to floor.
Must be able to work in an air-conditioned/non air-conditioned environment.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment for approximately 8 hours.
Must be able to travel between buildings in all types of weather.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering a plus
NIMS certification a plus
Experience with metal 3D printing / additive manufacturing preferred.
Experience implementing lights-out or unattended automation preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead process optimization of CNC programs and processes on equipment using Mastercam, Mazak (Maz) Control, conversational programming, and G-code.
Support toolroom operations across CNC grinding, wire & ram EDM, 5-axis CNC, CNC milling, and CNC lathes.
Perform tool life analysis and failure mode studies to identify root cause and drive corrective action.
Lead process and programming optimization projects to improve cycle time, quality, and tool life.
Identify, scope, and execute equipment modernization and capital improvement projects for the toolroom.
Develop and implement cost savings projects across toolroom processes and consumables.
Design and implement lights-out / unattended automation to increase toolroom capacity and efficiency.
Apply metal 3D printing (additive manufacturing) techniques to tooling and fixture development where applicable.
Design, build, and troubleshoot fixturing to support new and existing tooling and manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with manufacturing operators, engineering, tool makers, and quality to resolve tooling issues and improve part quality.
Document processes, programs, and machine settings in accordance with established company procedures.
Follow all standard operating procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and 5S initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
