About The Position

Trane Technologies is seeking experienced Toolmakers/Machinists (A/B) for its Tyler, Texas location. This is a full-time, direct-hire position on the 2nd or 3rd shift, with opportunities for overtime. As a Toolmaker/Machinist, you will be responsible for developing, making, modifying, and repairing complex tools such as jibs, fixtures, and various types of dies used in product manufacturing. Requirements

  • Toolmaker A: Graduate Apprentice with 4+ years of practical experience; or Toolmaker/Machinist B with 2+ years’ experience in die making and repair work.
  • Toolmaker B: Graduate Apprentice (or 6 years documented equivalent experience with a variety of equipment); or Toolmaker/Machinist C with one-year practical related experience in die making and repair work.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully on complex toolmaking projects.
  • Proficiency in complex shop math, including trigonometry.
  • Working knowledge of a tool room, production machines, and methods.
  • Ability to make complex set-ups on a variety of tool room machinery.
  • Demonstrated performance and ability to perform work of a difficult nature.
  • Commitment to completion of specific technical college courses (CAD, NC/CAM) over a two-year period, or graduation from a relevant two-year formal technical program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, make, modify, and repair complicated tools, including jibs, fixtures, and all types of combination and progressive dies for piercing, blanking, and drawing.
  • Make complex set-ups on a variety of tool room machinery.
  • Exercise extreme accuracy and skill working from plans such as drawings, sketches, instructions, and blueprints.
  • Make sketches of modifications made to parts for print updating.
