About The Position

The Tooling Technician is responsible for designing and machining tooling and fixture components to support all production operations within the facility. This role also involves supporting maintenance technicians with the repair of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the manufacturing plant.

Requirements

  • Ability to design and machine tooling and fixture components.
  • Experience operating all tool room equipment.
  • Proficiency in visual inspection and testing of tool room machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to document maintenance activities.
  • Skill in diagnosing machine malfunctions.
  • Experience dismantling defective machines and installing new or repaired parts.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and lubricating machinery parts.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs.
  • Understanding of 5S principles and audit processes.
  • Ability to clean, adjust, and calibrate machining equipment.
  • Experience assisting with tool, fixture, and material flow improvements.
  • Safe use of hand and machine tools (grinders, saws, lathes, mills).
  • Ability to assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair tools and fixtures.
  • Operate all tool room equipment.
  • Visually inspect and test tool room machinery and equipment and document maintenance activities.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Assist with the dismantling of defective machines and equipment and installing new or repaired parts.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all production and facility equipment.
  • Maintain 5S in the department and periodically participate in the audit process.
  • Clean, adjust, and calibrate machining equipment.
  • Assist in tool, fixture, and material flow and continuous improvements for those areas.
  • Practice safe use of hand and machine tools, such as grinders, saws, lathes, and mills.
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment.
