About The Position

The Tooling Maintenance Specialist/Toolmaker ensures that all tooling and molds are clean and well maintained at all times to ensure proper functioning, quality and performance. This role involves repairing production-related equipment, hardware, and tools, including general maintenance and replacement of machine parts to minimize production breakdowns. The specialist will also be responsible for documenting tooling maintenance, developing/updating process documents for repair and maintenance techniques, and machining, grinding, and EDMing tooling components according to drawings. Additionally, they will clean, repair, and maintain molds and inserts according to supplier schedules and instructions, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Other duties may include conducting special projects and assisting in training new team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience working in machinery maintenance in a manufacturing facility.
  • 5 years’ experience in CNC machining (lathe, Mill, EDM).
  • Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and tool prints.
  • Expert knowledge and use of common manual repair tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level attention to detail with ability multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in industrial maintenance or related field.
  • 2 years working in mold maintenance, welding or hydraulics.

Responsibilities

  • Repair all production related equipment, hardware and tools as needed, this will include general maintenance and replacement of production machine parts to limit chance of production breakdowns.
  • Document tooling maintenance in accordance with internal and external requirements.
  • Develop/update process documents to show proper repair and maintenance techniques.
  • Machine, grind, and EDM tooling components according to drawings.
  • Clean, repair and maintain molds and inserts in accordance with the tool supplier's maintenance schedule and instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by assuring conformance to policies and good practices.
  • Address safety issues immediately - people, equipment or work area.
  • Conduct special projects as assigned.
  • Assist in training new team members.
