Plastic Ingenuity has a full-time Tooling Designer position available at our Cross Plains plant. Requirements

  • Minimum education, given additional work experience, would be related drafting courses in another field of study.
  • One year of work experience is required.
  • Computer literacy and basic CAD familiarity is essential to success.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred education is a 4 year degree in a technology field or engineering from an accredited school.
  • It is advantageous to find a person with some additional related work experience in drafting and mechanical systems.
  • Prior related experience in the machine shop or production is very beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and dimensions production tooling such as steel rule dies, molds and mold plates, water cooled plates, stand-offs, air boxes, plugs, plug plates, trim plates, trim nests, knife back-ups, matched metal tooling and all related items.
  • Follows good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.
  • Designs and dimensions molds of various types such as trays, blisters, clamshells, and trifolds.
  • Develops cavity shapes and sizes to hold various products.
  • Works closely with mold shop, production tooling, sales, prototype, and engineering personnel to get molds satisfactorily completed to meet the needs of the customer within the boundaries of company standard operating procedures.
  • May also work directly with customers.
  • Uses sound drafting techniques to produce accurate and complete drawings.
  • Completes required documentation on tooling or mold changes, electronic storage of drawings and other customer or PI related data.
  • Understands and complies with requirements regarding customer and PI confidentiality.
  • Works on some design projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
