About The Position

The Tool Service Technician performs the functions associated with being a Machine Technician. The role requires setting up and operating at least two manually or CNC-controlled surface grinders with minimal supervision. The technician re-sharpens and inspects perforating tooling, sets up tooling according to work instructions, and maintains records related to tool setup and punch usage.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of mechanical or related experience.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Ability to read a ruler and blueprint and use calipers and a micrometer.
• Ability to operate tool service equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted or 80 pounds assisted.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to a maximum of 8 hours.
• Ability to stoop, bend, and stretch as necessary.
• Good hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate at least two manually or CNC-controlled surface grinders with minimal supervision.
• Re-sharpen perforating tooling using precision grinding.
• Inspect perforating tooling for defects and worn components.
• Read shop orders or work instructions and set up perforating tooling accordingly.
• Use the plant console to obtain information and priorities concerning tool setup and the machine schedule.
• Maintain records on tool setup and punch usage.
• Select the proper punch grade when required.
• Set up tooling to print.
