About The Position

This role oversees all Tool Room activities supporting production and engineering. The position serves as the first-line supervisor for the tool room machining operation, which includes tool and die build and repair, precision grinding, and preventative tool maintenance. The supervisor provides leadership and supervises the hourly tool room team, with the ability to identify, select, train, and coach team members. Responsibilities include overall coordination and communication within the department and with production, interacting with production, engineering, materials, and quality teams on key issues, and procuring necessary parts to maintain tooling functionality for manufacturing needs. The role also involves monitoring department ISO/IATF16969 requirements, maintaining documentation, and overseeing tool room activities to support plant operations. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for related safety requirements and demonstrating corporate values through model behavior.

Requirements

  • Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker or bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent.
  • 8 plus years of experience in Tool & Die.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Advanced equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of ISO/IATF16949 requirements

  • Knowledge of Stamping, Assembly & Welding, Cutting, Forming, Grinding, Tool Sharpening, Milling, Tool Steel Composition, Hardness Testing, Blueprint Reading, Tool & Die Build/Repair and Tooling Selection.
