About The Position

Electro-Methods is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool Maker to support the design, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in the manufacturing of aerospace components. The Tool Maker will play a key role in ensuring tooling accuracy, reliability, and performance to meet the stringent requirements of aerospace production and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training or apprenticeship in Tool & Die/Toolmaking preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of toolmaking experience in a precision machining or aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of tool geometry, machining processes, and material properties.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace specifications.
  • Experience operating both manual and CNC machine tools.
  • Skilled in precision measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, modify, and repair precision tools, fixtures, and gauges to support aerospace machining and production operations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to produce tooling to exact tolerances.
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, etc.) to machine complex tooling components.
  • Inspect finished tools using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, CMM, etc.) to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to design tooling solutions that improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.
  • Maintain tooling inventory, documentation, and records in accordance with company and aerospace quality standards (AS9100).
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues on the shop floor and provide timely solutions to support production.
  • Adhere to all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
