The tool maker position uses appropriate equipment such as Lathes, Mills, surface grinder and other equipment to create tooling and fixtures as required by production. The role involves generating/reading blueprints and using necessary measuring devices to make or modify existing tooling and tools for new or old job prints. The Tool Maker will work with the production and process engineering teams to design and develop tooling/fixtures for production processes. This role is also responsible for ensuring tools are sharpened and tool holders are in good working condition before being placed back on the shelf or in tool drawers, and for repairing or requisitioning replacement parts, tooling, or hardware as needed to maintain adequate stock. The position requires setting up and operating all tool room machines for specific form tool, tap, drills, or holder for grinding, and maintaining proper housekeeping and safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment. Participation in department/shift/team meetings is also expected.
