About The Position

We’re seeking an experienced Tool Maker to support operations in our busy production facility. Ideal candidates will be safety-minded and have experience with roll forming, progressive stamping or metal forming process. Do you enjoy leading efforts in improving existing tooling or working on developing tooling for new products?

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least 4 years’ related experience and training/education.
  • US Person (due to EAR/ITAR requirements)
  • 4 years’ apprenticeship certification training
  • Previous experience with: Wire EDM programming/set-up experience.
  • Previous CNC or Master Cam experience
  • Attending school to complete 2-year technical degree or vocational training
  • Mechanical Aptitude

Nice To Haves

  • general knowledge of CNC mills and lathes, and Wire EDM set up and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of tooling design, shop mathematics, metal properties, lay out, machining, and assembly procedures, plans and performs under general supervision, a variety of duties including lay out of metal stock; set up and operation of machine tools and the fitting and assembly of parts to make or repair jigs and fixtures, gauges, tools and dies.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools located in tooling area and verifies conformance of machined parts to specification for blueprints, sketches, or verbal descriptions.
  • Provide hand tools in order to assemble/ disassemble parts or tooling.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment using measuring instruments.
  • Repair worn or inoperable tools and dies with high level of troubleshooting abilities.
  • Follows all verbal and written instructions pertaining to the performance of jobs.
  • Maintains expected levels of safety, quality, and work efficiency standards.
  • Keeps all required records and maintains a clean work area.
  • Provides expertise to peers.
  • Examine operating tools and determine modifications to be made.
  • Develop specifications from description and make sketches of tools to be made.
  • Communicates changes with design or GL and participates in Steps CI Team Program.
