As a Tool Maker 1, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below, learning to build and maintain work holding fixtures and spare parts while developing foundational tool room skills under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 1–3 years of prior manufacturing experience in a metal working environment or a combination of related experience, education, and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Works under moderate supervision.
  • Knowledge of shop math necessary to perform the required work assignments.
  • Teamwork and the ability to cooperate and work proactively with others is a must.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new tool room skills and requirements.
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Self-motivated; willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines and pressure.
  • Must be willing to maintain company required tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work in accordance with our Company Values.

Responsibilities

  • Generally participating in an apprenticeship or on-the-job training program.
  • Make and keep up spare parts inventory for manual work holding fixtures and hydraulic tombstones.
  • Service all manual work holding fixtures and hydraulic tombstones and repair as needed.
  • Train as a machinist learning to set up and operate manual machines while building spare fixture parts.
  • Build, repair, and maintain jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, and tools for manufacturing operations.
  • Perform hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies using hand tools of the trade.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints or work from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Rely on work instructions, standard operating procedures, and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping of work area; keep all machines, tools, equipment, and work surfaces free of oil, grease, chips, etc.
  • Participate in required safety toolbox discussions and monthly meetings.
  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the company's efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.
