Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline
  • 2-5 years’ experience in tooling design using NX CAD, CATIA, or similar tools
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication processes, and machine shop practices
  • Proficiency in GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2018 application and drawing standards
  • Ability to produce accurate, compliant engineering drawings including weld symbols
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, and communication abilities
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • Special tooling design and fabrication expertise
  • Vendor capability evaluation for tooling and aerospace production
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, stress analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Prior support of tooling SOWs and design estimates
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 5 years

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative tooling concepts and support equipment for both new and ongoing manufacturing programs
  • Design and create detailed engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans for tooling and fixtures
  • Collaborate closely with Tool Designers, manufacturing, operations, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver quality solutions
  • Review and validate tooling designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function
  • Manage end-to-end tooling projects, including cost tracking, procurement, fabrication, and schedule adherence
  • Coordinate design reviews and ensure tooling requirements are met to support production goals
  • Support and inspect vendor-fabricated tooling for compliance with engineering drawings and standards
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to proactive problem-solving
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance in all tooling designs and manufacturing processes
  • Assist in root cause investigations, non-conformance analysis, and process improvement efforts
