About The Position

The Tool & Die Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, improvement, and fabrication of tooling used in automotive manufacturing operations. This position ensures tooling, dies, fixtures, jigs, and related equipment operate safely, efficiently, and consistently to produce high-quality products that meet customer specifications. The Tool & Die Technician performs tooling maintenance, machining, fabrication, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement activities that support manufacturing performance, tooling reliability, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a mechanically inclined, hands-on problem solver who takes pride in quality workmanship and continuous improvement. They enjoy troubleshooting issues, working with precision equipment, and finding practical solutions to improve safety, quality, and operational performance. They are detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing, machining, maintenance, tooling, fabrication, welding, or other industrial environment.
  • Experience operating production, stamping, machining, or other industrial equipment
  • Experience with die changeovers, equipment setup, troubleshooting, or preventive maintenance activities.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Experience operating manual machining equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, or drill presses.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with press blanking, tooling, automotive manufacturing, or industrial production processes.
  • Technical school, apprenticeship, or related trade training.
  • Basic math, measurement, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and workmanship.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and problem resolution
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and improve production tooling, dies, fixtures, jigs, and assemblies.
  • Perform tear-down, inspection, diagnosis, repair, and reassembly activities.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs for tooling and tool room equipment.
  • Set up and operate tool room equipment including milling machines, lathes, grinders, drill presses, presses, band saws, and other machining equipment.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and dial indicators to verify dimensions and tooling condition.
  • Perform improvements and modifications to increase safety, quality, efficiency, and equipment reliability
  • Complete tooling maintenance records, repair reports, and spare parts documentation.
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to support manufacturing requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot tooling-related quality and production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve performance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while complying with all safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Assist Operations with job changeovers, die setup, and startup activities to support safe, efficient, and reliable production while meeting quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
