This position is for an apprentice to enroll and participate in a U.S. Department of Labor recognized Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program. This program involves coursework through Ivy Tech and on-the-job training, as outlined in the Standards of Apprenticeship Agreement. The apprentice will assist with repairs and modifications to tools and fixtures, support technical services in machine repair, changeovers, setup, and operation. They will also be responsible for safely operating tool room equipment, assembling and disassembling tooling, dies, and gauges, and troubleshooting tooling issues. The role involves working with various materials including general steels, tool steels, and advanced high-strength steels, and operating a variety of tooling machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, jigs & fixtures, CNC equipment, and TIG welding. The apprentice must acquire personal tools necessary for the job and be able to work any shift.
