About The Position

Star Safety Technologies by Grote is seeking a skilled and hands-on Tool & Die / Tool Room Technician to support their manufacturing operations. This role involves fixture fabrication, tooling repair, equipment troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement. It is ideal for someone who enjoys machining, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in injection molding, tooling, machining, fabrication, or industrial maintenance is strongly encouraged.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Tool & Die Maker Certification or equivalent experience
Ability to safely operate tool room equipment and machinery
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Basic computer and data entry skills
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

CNC machining experience
Injection molding experience
Experience supporting automated assembly equipment
Leadership or mentoring experience in a manufacturing setting

Responsibilities

Build, modify, and repair fixtures, jigs, workstations, tooling, and assembly equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and tooling issues on production equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Operate tool room equipment including CNC milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and band saws.
Use precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges, and thread gauges.
Assist with installation and setup of new or revised manufacturing equipment and processes.
Perform tooling changeovers, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
Coordinate heat treating and outside vendor tooling services.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Maintain organized work areas using 5S principles.
Document tooling activity and maintain inventory of tool room supplies.
