About The Position

The Tool Design Engineer designs, develops, and improves tooling that supports manufacturing metal cutting machines. The role includes completing time studies and checking metal cutting processes against machine and fixture capabilities. The engineer works with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling solutions meet quality, cost, safety, and performance requirements while supporting manufacturing efficiency and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Ability to comprehend 2-D drawings.
Proficient use of AutoCAD (2012 and higher).
Knowledge of mechanical design and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Knowledge of ISO and DIN standards and the metric system.
Strong knowledge of static and dynamic mechanics.
Self-motivated and a team player.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong math skills and understanding of mechanics.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

Proficient use of NX.
Experience in metal cutting or tooling design.

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical manufacturing-tool designs using AutoCAD and NX.
Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Evaluate product designs and manufacturing processes to determine tooling requirements.
Ensure tooling designs comply with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
Maintain tooling documentation, revision controls, and engineering records.
Find solutions to problems from the design phase through customer runoff.
Perform tolerance stack-up, vibration, chip-load, and cutting-feed/speed calculations; interpret and analyze technical drawings; complete and develop process time studies; and define specific tools for each manufacturing process.
Develop and maintain metal cutting process sheets.
