About The Position

We are seeking a Tool Design Engineer to develop, improve, and maintain tools that enable manufacturing of advanced aerospace systems. In this role, you will work closely with multiple engineering disciplines (i.e. Manufacturing, Stress, Component Design) to translate requirements into robust, user-friendly tools that allow the fabrication and assembly of large Nacelle structures. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and CAD software abilities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of experience using CAD software for Mechanical Design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex engineering processes.
  • Experience working with engineering package releases in PLM systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and global engineering teams.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of professional engineering, manufacturing, or engineering-tool development experience.
  • Experience developing tools for the aerospace, aviation, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with Nacelle components.
  • Proficient with CATIA.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining and welding.
  • Experience with mechanical joints and hardware (i.e. types of fasteners, pins, bearings).
  • Knowledge of aerospace engineering disciplines such as structures design, manufacturing, or stress engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing tools to support production of Nacelle hardware, following standard work, procedures, and guidance from department SMEs.
  • Generate CAD models with GD&T callouts and drawing symbol annotations.
  • Partner with aerospace engineers across disciplines to understand technical requirements, improvements, and pain points.
  • Translate feedback from Tooling users on the manufacturing shop floor to propose solutions.
  • Document tool functionality, requirements, design decisions, verification results, and user procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure tools and engineering processes comply with applicable company procedures, aerospace standards, quality requirements, and configuration-management practices.
  • Report status to project leaders, interface with internal customers, and escalate problems requiring attention.
