About The Position

The Riverside Transit Agency has one vacancy for the Tire Servicer position in the Maintenance Department. The Tire Servicer will perform all aspects of tire maintenance on all Agency vehicles and buses assigned. Please be advised that this may involve assignment at either our Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work all weekdays, including weekends, holidays, and all shifts. Requirements

  • Received a diploma from high school or its equivalent such as a GED.
  • At least one (1) year experience in the maintenance of heavy duty equipment.
  • Must possess a valid non-restricted California driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class B license and medical certificate within ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Candidates will be required to pass job related skill(s) test(s).
  • Must have zero additional disciplinary actions (Further Written Warnings, Final Warnings, Suspension) excluding accidents and attendance.
  • Must have no more than 1 Late Arrival within the last 12 months.
  • Must have no more than 1 Attendance Point in the last year.
  • Must have zero preventable accidents (only 1 written warning within the last year).
  • Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above "Meets Standards."
  • Applications to transfer to a different department, will be accepted once the 120 day probationary period has been successfully completed.
  • Driving record review (pass/fail).
  • A performance exam (pass/fail).
  • An oral interview (100% weight).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regulating tire conditions.
  • The ability to safely perform heavy manual labor by operating the tire mounting machine.
  • The ability to safely break tires down using proper methods.
  • Capable of learning and following procedures both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Mounting and changing, repairing, rotating, and inspecting tires.
  • Performs routine inspection of tires to check proper air pressure, tread depth and free of any damage.
  • Able to properly match tires on vehicles.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Provide an itemized and comprehensive schedule of work on a daily basis to supervision.
  • Cleaning, painting and maintaining wheels and other related tasks as assigned.
  • Keeping up maintenance, inventory records, and constant communication with the tire contractor to ensure tires are picked up regularly to minimize vehicle downtime.
