About The Position

Tessera is seeking a Motivated and Hardworking Tire Repairer with a Positive/Professional attitude. This role involves the maintenance of military equipment, including wheeled and track vehicles, engineering equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment. The Tire Repairer will perform mounting, balancing, rotation, inspection, repair, replacement, and servicing of tires and wheel assemblies on a variety of military and commercial vehicles, as well as other equipment. The position requires the ability to perform minor repairs and services according to technical manuals, service and fuel transportation equipment, and perform inspections and repairs on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems. A key responsibility is conducting thorough inspections of tires, wheels, rims, valve stems, and associated components to identify issues affecting vehicle safety and mission readiness. The role also includes utilizing tire service equipment, loading/unloading and storing materials, maintaining accurate records, and assisting master mechanics on major repair jobs. Preventative maintenance services, diagnostics, and assisting with repairs are also part of the duties. The Tire Repairer will ensure the shop, maintenance areas, and equipment are kept clean and organized, and provide courteous and professional customer service. Compliance with all OSHA requirements, Air Force regulations, environmental standards, and safety practices is mandatory. The position supports mission readiness by ensuring vehicles and equipment are serviced and returned to operational status promptly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0-3 years experience performing tire repair, tire mounting and balancing, vehicle maintenance, or related mechanical work.
  • Knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment systems, including tires, brakes, suspension, steering, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mounting, balancing, rotation, inspection, repair, replacement, and servicing of tires and wheel assemblies on military vehicles, commercial vehicles, trailers, material handling equipment, emergency response vehicles, construction equipment, and support equipment.
  • Able to accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals.
  • Must be able to service and fuel transportation equipment, forklifts, generators, lawn maintenance equipment and other motor vehicles and equipment as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs and steering systems.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of tires, wheels, rims, valve stems, and associated components to identify abnormal wear patterns, damage, tread separation, sidewall defects, punctures, and other conditions affecting vehicle safety and mission readiness.
  • Performs minor repairs on tire, wheel, brake, suspension, steering, and related vehicle components as authorized and in accordance with technical guidance.
  • Utilizes tire service equipment, hydraulic jacks, lifting devices, balancing machines, tire changers, torque tools, and other specialized equipment to safely perform tire and wheel maintenance activities.
  • Loads, unloads, moves, stores, and inventories tires, wheels, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies utilizing proper material handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, wash, clean and lubricate vehicles, check all fluid levels and adjust accordingly during fueling operations, repair tires and perform minor auto body repairing and painting as required.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during scheduled services.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, service documentation, parts requests, and work order information utilizing computerized maintenance systems and established contract procedures.
  • Identifies required repair parts, consumables, and replacement components; initiates parts requests and assists in maintaining inventory accountability and stock levels.
  • Must be able to accurately determine needed repair parts and generate parts request.
  • Assist master mechanic on major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing subcomponents, reassembly, and installation of subcomponents.
  • Performs preventative maintenance services including lubrication, fluid level inspections, battery servicing, filter replacement, and scheduled vehicle service tasks in accordance with technical manuals and maintenance schedules.
  • Assists mechanics with diagnostics, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and installation of vehicle and equipment components during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Conducts pre-service, post-service, and operational inspections to verify equipment is safe, serviceable, and ready for operational use.
  • Maintains tire shop, maintenance areas, service bays, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition to support efficient maintenance operations.
  • Provide assistance loading and unloading equipment, properly storing and inventorying transportation equipment parts and supplies.
  • Must exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs.
  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of daily work.
  • Communicate with customers – always be courteous and communicate in a professional manner when talking with customers.
  • Ensures compliance with all OSHA requirements, Air Force regulations, environmental standards, hazardous material handling requirements, hazardous waste disposal procedures, and shop safety practices.
  • Supports mission readiness by ensuring assigned vehicles and equipment are serviced, inspected, and returned to operational status in a timely manner.
  • Provides courteous and professional customer service while communicating maintenance status, inspection findings, and service requirements to supervisors, mechanics, and customers.
  • Maintains professionalism in appearance, conduct, attendance, and interaction with customers, coworkers, and government personnel.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned.
