The Transit Development (TD) unit is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. This unit manages the bus-related components of the NYC Streets Plan, including the Better Buses and transit policy initiatives, and develops location-specific projects to enhance the quality and safety of bus operations and improve pedestrian access to transit. TD also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit-related matters, acting as a key contact with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The Division of Traffic Operations is seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Civil Engineer to join the Signals Timing & Intersection Control Unit. This role involves performing engineering work related to the planning, design, analysis, and implementation of projects within the Bus Action Streets Plan. The work includes technical support for bus priority street improvements, geometric design, traffic engineering analysis, field inspections, and preparation of engineering documents. The employee will assist in ensuring compliance with NYC DOT standards, applicable codes, and safety requirements.
