The Division of Traffic Operations is seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Signals Timing & Intersection Control Unit. This role performs engineering work related to the planning, design, analysis, and implementation of projects within the Bus Action Streets Plan. The work involves technical support for bus priority street improvements, including geometric design, traffic engineering analysis, field inspections, and preparation of engineering documents. The employee assists in ensuring compliance with NYC DOT standards, applicable codes, and safety requirements. Transit Development (TD) is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The unit manages the bus-related components of the NYC Streets Plan, including the Better Buses and transit policy initiatives, and develops location-specific projects to enhance the quality and safety of bus operations and improve pedestrian access to transit. TD also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit-related matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
