About The Position

Entertainment Weekly is seeking an SEO Writer to create search-driven content focused on movies, TV, and celebrities. The role involves writing about current entertainment topics, such as TV show finales, documentary subjects, or celebrity-related lists. The ideal candidate is a fast and clean writer, a resourceful researcher, and a digitally savvy entertainment expert with a strong understanding of SEO best practices. This position requires a voicey writer who can be engaging while maintaining authority. As EW operates in a fast-paced newsroom, the ability to pitch and write multiple articles of varying lengths daily is essential. The role is for an Agency Worker, paid by a staffing agency, and will receive a W2 from that agency.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree
  • 2-3 years experience writing for a celebrity news publication or in a related entertainment space
  • Strong writing and editing skills, impeccable journalistic standards, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond quickly to breaking news and understand how to find an SEO or evergreen angle from a news event.
  • Demonstrated understanding of SEO and analytics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pop culture, specifically related to TV and film.
  • Loves a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Write new content, closely adhering to EW’s style guide and ensuring all copy is clean and accurate as well as optimized for SEO
  • Pitch content based on news cycle
