About The Position

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances. Under the general supervision of the Payroll Manager this position will be responsible for receiving and reviewing schedule changes, auditing leave and attendance records entered in our time collection system in accordance with current Collective Bargaining Agreements, Municipal Personnel Rules and Policies and Procedures. Researches variances in the timekeeping application, reviews and corrects time and leave errors as needed. Processes leave adjustments, donations, and cash-in for Municipal Employees. Assist with the weekly on-boarding of new municipal staff, provides training to employees with timekeeping functions to ensure accurate time recording. Supports all Municipal employees and departments with regard to recording time. Assists in the development and training materials for Municipal Employees as new processes are being implemented. Assists all areas of the payroll department as needed and assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and five ( 5 ) years of experience in human resources or payroll, administration support or similar administrative responsibilities.
  • OR Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar discipline and three ( 3 ) years of experience in human resources or payroll, administration support or similar administrative responsibilities.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar discipline and one ( 1 ) year of experience in human resources or payroll, administration support or similar administrative responsibilities.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States.
