About The Position

This role is for a Technical Lead within the plant's leadership team, demanding a professional with a robust technical background and proven leadership capabilities to drive innovation, new technology implementation, and operational excellence. As a key member of the leadership team, this individual will bridge complex technical insights with strategic business objectives, influencing stakeholders and championing best practices to achieve measurable results in waste reduction, efficiency gains, and sustained growth. The role involves being a trusted technical subject matter expert (SME) in process development and engineering, analyzing product formulation, packaging, and specifications to ensure new initiatives are runnable on production lines and meet efficiency targets. The Technical Lead will leverage deep knowledge of oven functionality and advanced thermal devices, participate in Technical Readiness Level (TRL) reviews, lead Alternative Line Qualifications (ALQ), and provide expert technical support for trials. They will also be involved in Commissioning, Qualification and Verification (CQV) methodology, ensuring meticulous documentation for centerlines, critical parameters to the process (CTP’s), and critical parameters to quality (CTQ’s). The role also includes driving process development and optimization for consumer benefits, cost savings, and collaborating globally to deploy robust processes across Mondelēz factories. Additionally, the Technical Lead will mentor junior talent, manage product technician teams, influence technical direction, and roll out manufacturing standards to build capability and eradicate quality losses. They will drive the continuous evolution of foundational skills and capabilities to keep pace with technological advancements and act as a senior technical resource in quality management and innovation initiative management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or Food Science.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive industry experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated strong process background with an advanced understanding of statistical, modeling, and simulation tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and oversee budgets, risks, and timelines with an action-oriented approach.
  • Experience or strong aptitude for thinking and working effectively in a global context.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences, influence stakeholders, and effectively communicate technical gaps and solutions.
  • A resourceful and creative approach to developing innovative solutions for complex challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Support technically focused projects and use technical expertise to guide, direct, and influence activities led by others.
  • Ensure the right solutions are developed, future breakthrough opportunities are identified, and executable programs are implemented with technical rigor.
  • Be accountable for the technical outcomes of process developments activities (e.g., process design and specifications, process scale up, commissioning etc.).
  • Quantify technical risks of projects and offer recommendations and conclusions to influence senior stakeholders in business decisions.
  • Develop and leverage connections internally and with external technical partners.
  • Create a culture that fosters intellectual properties to drive competitive advantage.
  • Manage an internal team of process developers and work with cross-functional partners to establish resource and budget needs.
  • Provide strategic leadership in process technology area and/or process development program.
  • Mentor and coach others to grow technical talent.
  • Serve as an internally recognized expert in process development and engineering, identifying, defining, and solving complex business problems.
  • Conduct rigorous analysis of product formulation, packaging, and specifications for raw materials to ensure new formulas and initiatives are runnable on production lines and meet general efficiency (GE%) and waste % targets.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of oven functionality, utilizing advanced thermal devices (e.g., Mole, Scorpion) and statistical analysis to establish and maintain substantial centerlines.
  • Actively participate in Technical Readiness Level (TRL) reviews and discussions, shaping the technical direction of the business.
  • Lead the execution and oversight of Alternative Line Qualifications (ALQ), provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for trials.
  • Part of Commissioning, Qualification and Verification (CQV) methodology for bottom-up and top-down initiatives ensuring meticulous documentation developed for centerlines, critical parameters to the process (CTP’s) and critical parameters to quality (CTQ’s).
  • Drive process development and optimization to deliver tangible consumer benefits through new product presentations, quality inspired projects and significant cost savings.
  • Develop bottom-up initiatives, technical approaches, detailed plans, deliverables, and timelines to ensure resolutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate globally and regionally, aligning with the Engineering, Research and Development (R&D), Business Development (BD) and Quality agendas to deploy robust processes across Mondelēz factories.
  • Mentor junior talents as process engineers and quality engineers fostering an environment that encourages process innovation and renovation.
  • Manage and guide an intern for a 12-week program in summertime, developing future technical leaders.
  • Manage product technician team member responsible of conducting qualitative and quantitative bar tests and defects measurements.
  • Influence the technical direction of the business through exceptional organizational awareness and clear, compelling communication.
  • Roll out and embed manufacturing standards processes, specifically focusing on capability building, advanced training for core and supportive teams to eradicate quality losses (e.g., overpack, consumer complaints).
  • Drive the continuous evolution of foundational skills and capabilities, ensuring they remain at the forefront of technological advancements.
  • Act as a senior technical resource in quality management (QM) and innovation initiative management (IIM) pillars leading specific work process and supporting integrated design brief (IDB) and critical parameters to the process developed.
  • Support and execute bench-top, pilot-scale, and plant-scale process development activities in partnership with Research and Development (R&D) and Engineering.
  • Manage multiple, complex projects, prioritize, and manage budgets, risk, and timelines.
