About The Position

The Tile Cutting Sew On Operator is responsible to sew on rolls according to schedule. This role involves scanning roll numbers, recording production data, sewing rolls together with straight and tight seams, and ensuring correct rolls are used. The operator will also attach style flags, manage the accumulator, and maintain carpet alignment and tension. A clean work area is expected. The job requires the ability to lift cores and buckets weighing up to 30 lbs frequently, stand for 80% of the shift, and perform reaching, stooping, and bending motions multiple times per shift. Proficiency with scissors and wrenches is necessary. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with the ability to perform basic math calculations and possess computer knowledge or data entry skills. Overtime may be required, and all accidents must be reported immediately. Safety equipment must be worn, and safety requirements must be followed. Employees are responsible for reporting any quality or safety issues and for the quality and safety of their own output.

Responsibilities

  • Scan roll number on each roll.
  • Record roll numbers, yards, etc. of each roll sent through the coater.
  • Sew rolls together, ensuring straight, tightly sewn seams with minimal trimming.
  • Ensure correct rolls are sewn.
  • Attach 'style flags' to the first roll of each run.
  • Start accumulator and run the correct amount of carpet into it.
  • Keep carpet aligned properly and maintain tension.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered.
  • Responsible for quality and safety of own output.
