The TIG Welder will weld and repair all die steels as required, supporting maintenance and the plant with welding activities. This role requires proficiency in all aspects of TIG welding, including welding various materials such as aluminum, copper, and stainless steel. The position involves working on hot items (up to 900F) for extended periods and requires the ability to preheat tool steels in an oven to the proper temperature. Responsibilities include welding and repairing damaged or worn die sets, grinding grooves in material to repair cracked details, and stress-relieving tool steels during the welding process. The role also includes maintaining a clean work environment, maintaining welding equipment and supplies, and assisting toolroom and maintenance personnel with machine repair, changeover, setup, and operation. Safely operating overhead cranes and other toolroom equipment is also part of the job. The position requires the ability to read basic measuring tools and may involve overtime as needed.
