About The Position

The Tier 3 Systems & Network Engineer is the highest level of technical escalation within the IT department. This onsite role maintains the reliability, performance, and security of existing infrastructure while engineering and deploying new solutions to support business growth and modernization. The position requires strong networking, Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Intune experience, with Microsoft Azure and Intune explicitly required. The engineer owns and evolves the organization’s network environment and supports Windows Server, Azure and hybrid cloud environments, endpoint management, infrastructure monitoring, virtualization, and line-of-business applications. Responsibilities span complex troubleshooting, infrastructure design and deployment, system administration, project support, security practices, documentation, and technical guidance for Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams. The position is 100% onsite in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or network engineering.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management.
Strong networking experience with switches, routers, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls.
Strong experience with Windows Server environments, including versions 2016, 2019, or 2022.
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Experience troubleshooting server and network infrastructure issues.
Experience with Hyper-V or VMware virtualization.
Experience with infrastructure monitoring platforms such as Zabbix, or demonstrated ability and willingness to learn.
Experience supporting and maintaining line-of-business applications, including patching and vendor coordination.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to mentor and support Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Certifications such as CCNA, Microsoft Azure or Intune certifications, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Serve as the highest escalation point for infrastructure, system, and network issues.
Maintain, support, and continuously improve server, network, and endpoint infrastructure.
Design, engineer, and deploy infrastructure solutions aligned with business growth and modernization goals.
Own and evolve network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs, and VPNs.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across servers, endpoints, and network systems.
Manage and maintain Windows Server environments and Active Directory infrastructure.
Monitor system and network performance and deploy and manage monitoring and alerting solutions such as Zabbix.
Administer Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
Deploy, manage, and maintain endpoint environments using Microsoft Intune.
Support and maintain line-of-business applications, including patching, updates, and vendor coordination.
Support virtualization environments and help ensure system availability and performance.
Assist with infrastructure projects, including migrations, deployments, and integrations.
Provide technical guidance and escalation support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams.
Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and system procedures.
Follow security best practices, patch management, and system hardening standards.
Evaluate and recommend technologies to improve infrastructure efficiency and reliability.
