About The Position

The Ticketing Host is responsible for maintaining a positive attitude and appearance while greeting guests, offering upsells and suggestions during transactions, and informing guests about activities, aquatic life, and special events. This role requires strong customer service and interpersonal skills to handle guest comments and concerns, as well as excellent record-keeping and knowledge of the ticketing system. The position also involves maintaining PCI compliance and proper cash handling procedures, working independently, and adhering to Herschend Family Entertainment Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Services Standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have strong public speaking skills and the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to think clearly, and react quickly to changes and/or emergency situations
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time, ascend and descend floors, bend, stoop, and reach
  • Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service or retail experience preferred
  • Knowledge of marine life is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive attitude and appearance while greeting guests.
  • Offer upsell/suggestions during all transactions with guests to help create the best possible visit.
  • Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
  • Maintain appropriate guest and team relations, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills by handling comments, concerns, and suggestions from guests regarding the overall guest experience via phone, email, and/or in person.
  • Must demonstrate strong record keeping skills.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of ticketing system staying up to date on changes like ticket types and promotions.
  • Responsible for maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, in addition to, proper cash handling procedures.
  • Must be self-motivated and work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable.
  • Perform and adhere to, Herschend Family Entertainment Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Services Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest services operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Services Leadership Team.
