About The Position

The Thrift Store Clerk maintains the thrift store at standard operating level and completes daily duties and responsibilities. The role supports merchandise processing, pricing, stocking, store cleanliness, and customer service. Employees are expected to respect and not undermine The Salvation Army’s religious mission. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data through a web-based system.
• Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
• Strong independent judgment.
• Must pass all applicable background checks.
• Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting or moving more than 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Retail and/or cash register experience is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep shelves and clothing racks stocked and organized to promote sales.
• Assist the management team with investigating and pricing items for sale as needed.
• Process merchandise efficiently and properly according to established standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters, and tables with merchandise.
• Learn and train on the full processing system, including the cash register.
• Maintain a clean environment throughout the store, including shelves, counters, and tables.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers when needed.
• Provide polite, prompt, and courteous customer service consistent with The Salvation Army’s mission.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
