About The Position

The Thrift Store Clerk maintains the store at standard operating level and completes daily duties and responsibilities. The role involves organizing and stocking merchandise, assisting with pricing, processing items according to established standards, learning the store’s processing system and cash register, and maintaining a clean retail environment. The clerk also provides courteous customer service and assists with wrapping and bagging purchases when needed. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data through a web-based system.
• Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
• Strong independent judgment.
• Must pass all applicable background checks.
• Must complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.
• Must meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing, bending, reaching for extended periods, and occasionally lifting or moving more than 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Retail and/or cash register experience.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Responsibilities

• Keep shelves and clothing racks full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist the management team with investigating and properly pricing items as needed.
• Process merchandise efficiently and properly according to established standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
• Learn and train on the entire processing system, including the cash register.
• Maintain a clean environment throughout the store, including shelves, counters, and tables.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers when needed.
• Provide polite, prompt, and courteous customer service in keeping with The Salvation Army’s mission.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
