About The Position

The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store in Marion, Illinois, is seeking a Thrift Store Assistant Manager. This role involves assisting the manager with store operations, including performing all duties of a thrift store worker. Responsibilities include customer service, handling donated items (lifting, carrying, sorting, pricing, displaying), operating the cash register, reconciling the cash drawer, and making bank deposits. The majority of the work is physical labor. This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week, with a starting pay of $15.95 per hour.

Requirements

High school/equivalent diploma and one-year related work experience or two years’ work experience without diploma.
Ability to comprehend written job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet.
Must be able to operate a cash register, make correct change for items sold and be bondable.
Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees.
Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

Interact with customers and other staff in a manner which promotes positive relationships.
Sort donated items.
Price donated items.
Place donated items on racks/shelves for display.
Assist in loading and unloading of the store’s truck, customers’ vehicles, and/or donors’ vehicles.
Perform clerk/cashier activities.
Promote store sales.
Assist in preparing monthly report of daily sales.
Adhere to TSA policies and procedures.
Assist Store Manager in preparing work schedule to ensure store coverage at all times scheduled to be open.
Plan and supervise all employees’ daily activities and workloads, including hours of work and timecards.
Total, sign, and submit timecards to the Business Manager each Monday morning.
