About The Position
Bassett Healthcare Network, in central New York, is seeking a full-time BC/BE Thoracic Surgeon. This role involves performing a wide range of thoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive and complex procedures, and diagnosing/treating conditions affecting the chest and thoracic cavity. The physician will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, provide comprehensive patient care, and contribute to research and education. The position is within an integrated health system and a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of a residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Thoracic Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Board certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery
- Valid medical license in New York State
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with advanced imaging and diagnostic tools
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
Responsibilities
- Perform thoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive and complex procedures
- Diagnose and treat conditions affecting the chest and thoracic cavity
- Collaborate with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pulmonologists, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients
- Participate in clinical research and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Educate patients and families about treatment options and recovery processes
- Participate in medical student and General Surgery residency education
- Share call for thoracic patients with General Surgeons on nights and weekends
- Participate in multi-disciplinary tumor board and ACS CoC accredited activities

- Base Salary Range: $550,000-650,000
- Sign-On Bonus: Up to $100,000
