About The Position
Nuvance Health Med Practice PC, Northwell Health Department of Thoracic Surgery is seeking a board-certified full-time Thoracic Surgical physician assistant to join its group at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is a hospital-based, full-time rounding position focused on the care and management of thoracic surgery patients. Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a 365-bed tertiary care hospital located on the banks of the scenic Hudson River, providing leading acute and critical emergency care. The hospital has recently opened a new 696,000 square-foot, seven-level inpatient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms. The Hudson Valley offers a high quality of life with numerous recreational activities, excellent housing, outstanding schools, and easy commuter access to New York City.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA certified
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Strong inpatient care skills
- Strong patient management skills
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of thoracic surgery experience
- At least one year of surgical experience
- At least one year of inpatient experience
Responsibilities
- Rounding on hospitalized thoracic surgery patients
- Performing daily clinical assessments
- Reviewing laboratory and diagnostic results
- Developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with the thoracic surgery team
- Assisting with discharge planning and coordination of care
- Working collaboratively with thoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality postoperative and inpatient care.
