About The Position

Qualified individuals assigned to 3rd shift lead operator roles will assist with the changeover, set-up, and monitoring of equipment as needed while ensuring adequate coverage on the required equipment to secure continuous production and compliance with plant and industry standards. Work hours may fluctuate, but initial planned schedule will be 10:30 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. To further align the business to meet customer demand, a new opportunity – Lead Operator – is being implemented. Qualified people will aid in assuring adequate coverage to secure continuous production and compliance with industry standards. A training plan will be developed based on prioritization of current business needs. The person(s) awarded this opportunity will be provided training and must become proficient in the CCP roles minimum of – but not limited to – five of the following roles: Pasteurizer (CCP), SPC (CCP), Labeler (CCP), Brine-maker (CCP), Process Room, Traypack, Capper, Crew Leader. Training Based on Business Need. Additional $0.50/hour limited to one Crew Leader role. (Crew Leader includes Line 4, Relish Manufacturing, 2-Pack or Squeeze)

Requirements

  • Proficient understanding of and ability to operate and train on a minimum of five of the following job operations: Pasteurizer, SPC, Labeler, Brine maker, Capper, Tray pack, and Crewleader.
  • Failure to achieve proficiency on at least 5th operation within one hundred eighty (180) days from date of placement – to be extended only by mutual agreement of the Company and the Union – will result in disqualification from the Lead Operator position and relegation to one of the bid operations that are part of the Lead Operator position for which the operator is qualified.
  • Ability to compile, analyze and report data.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to push/pull, climb, sit, twist and reach.
  • Ability to stand the majority of shift and walk and frequently.
  • Ability to graph, use a thermometer, read a graduated cylinder, and perform other similar functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification pay after completion of on-the-job training.
  • Base pay is $22.97/hour.
  • Upon completion of training for each subsequent operation – beginning with the 2nd operation learned – wage will increase by an additional $0.50/hour.
  • A Lead Operator will be eligible for a maximum premium of $3.00/hour for operations learned, as well as an additional $1.00/hour combined premium for AMD and Changeover certification.
  • Additional $0.50/hour limited to one Crew Leader role. (Crew Leader includes Line 4, Relish Manufacturing, 2-Pack or Squeeze)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Safe Quality Foods (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Company and Regulatory standards are met or exceeded.
  • Properly conduct and document verification and monitoring activities of the various operations.
  • Ensure that all pre-operational monitoring activities, system start-up monitoring activities, and in-process monitoring activities are completed in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure that all food safety, quality assurance, and GMP policies and procedures are strictly adhered to in all processes.
  • Communicate with appropriate team members if food safety or food quality may be compromised to allow for immediate action.
  • Achieve operational proficiency on a minimum of five of the following job operations: Pasteurizer, SPC, Labeler, Brine maker, Capper, Tray pack, and Crewleader.
  • Complete routine quality checks and documentation in accordance with standard work.
  • Identify and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to minimize production delays.
  • Work closely and collaborate with Maintenance team, Quality team, and Operations to support production demand and maintain product quality standards.
  • Work safely and participate in training specific to lockout/tagout regulations and safe forklift operation and ensure actions are consistent with and support plant safety goals and procedures.
  • Assist with the changeover, set-up, and monitoring of equipment as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment autonomously as needed, including cleaning, lubing, and inspecting.
  • Report and take any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation, record keeping and reporting.
  • Work independently or with a team and collaborate with other staff to ensure production demands are met.
  • Provide training, coaching and guidance.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Be available to work different shifts and overtime, including weekend overtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
