About The Position

Safeway’s Third Person in Charge is responsible for operating the entire store when the Store Director and Assistant Store Director are absent. This role provides customer service, supervises employees, handles customer complaints, and coordinates late-shift operations. The role also supports hiring and onboarding coordination, administers required training, and maintains new-hire and promotion paperwork. Store assignments may change due to operational needs. The work is fast-paced and primarily involves closing shifts, though flexible hours across morning and evening shifts may be required. The position requires extended periods of standing and walking, handling and maneuvering objects weighing up to approximately 55 pounds, and may also involve extended periods at a desk or computer terminal. Holiday, evening, and weekend work may be required.
