About The Position

The ThinkBIG Program is a paid internship within the Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program. Over two years, students alternate between eight-week sessions at Illinois Central College in East Peoria and eight-week internships at an Altorfer branch. The program provides an opportunity to earn an Associate in Applied Sciences while learning a skilled trade in a high-demand industry. Coursework includes Fundamentals of Hydraulics, Caterpillar Engine Fuel Systems, Fundamentals of Electrical Systems, Diagnostic Testing, and Undercarriage/Final Drives. The position is based in a warehouse/shop environment and follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

Demonstrated drive for a career in service technology.
Self-starter with good time-management, planning, and organizational skills; team-oriented and committed to detail.
Ability to lift 75–100 pounds.
Ability to maintain an above-average grade point.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must have or be receiving a high school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license; a Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on the final candidate.
Flexibility to work varying schedules and hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Participate in the two-year alternating curriculum of eight-week college sessions and eight-week internships at an Altorfer branch.
Complete service technology coursework and internship learning activities.
Walk, climb on and off equipment, bend, and lift as required.
Use a telephone, write, or use a keyboard to communicate through email as needed.
Wear appropriate safety equipment when required.
