About The Position

As a Think Big Intern – Heavy Equipment, you will be enrolled in a two-year specialized program alternating every eight weeks between South Georgia Technical College and your sponsoring Yancey Bros. Co. branch. This program offers paid internships where students learn to work with Diesel, Electronics, and Hydraulics in the classroom and then apply these skills in a real working environment. Upon graduation, students earn an Associate Degree in Applied Technology, gain two years of experience with Yancey Bros Co, and may have the opportunity to transfer to a full-time role. Career paths can include shop technician, field service, supervision, management, sales, product support, and other positions. Candidates must pass a face-to-face interview, job-specific testing, and a facility tour. This is a two-year Associate Degree Program, not a summer internship, with classes starting every August. Students are responsible for college course payments, though the program qualifies for the HOPE Grant.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Meet the admission requirements to attend South Georgia Technical College
Mechanical aptitude (having the desire and skill to work with mechanical concepts)
Enjoys ‘hands-on’ challenging work
Enjoys a fast paced work environment
Have good work habits (shown by achieving acceptable grades and attendance in High School)
Have a good moral foundation

Responsibilities

Maintain ‘B’ average in all classes assigned at the college
Maintain ‘Meets Expectations’ in Conduct/Appearance/Work Ethic score provided on transcript
Participate in required safety programs, and working in a safe manner
