Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of heavy equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Utah Commercial Driver License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, construction practices, blueprint reading, safe excavation procedures, utility locating, and equipment maintenance.
- Dependable, safety-focused, physically capable of outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and committed to working as part of a high-performing team.
Nice To Haves
- OSHA training is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Safely operates heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, loaders, graders, and dump trucks while supporting construction, maintenance, and repair projects across the city.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material placement.
- Read blueprints and engineering plans.
- Coordinate with engineers and crew members.
- Help ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Responsible for equipment inspections, basic maintenance, traffic control, utility locating, safe excavation practices, OSHA compliance, and maintaining accurate work records.
- Assists with manual labor and other duties that help the team successfully complete each project.
