As a Thin Films Process Development Engineer, you will be responsible for starting and improving thin film fabrication processes. This includes work from pilot phase to full-scale manufacturing. You will work closely with engineering teams and external material providers. Your role involves solving complex problems, driving yield improvements, and improving product performance and dependability!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in process development or manufacturing engineering within a semiconductor or high-tech fabrication environment.
  • Hands-on experience applying statistical process control (SPC), Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), or FMEA methodologies to solve engineering problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address process-related anomalies or equipment interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Direct experience specialized in Thin Films process engineering, baseline qualification, or pilot plant scale-up.
  • Experience managing, auditing, and collaborating with advanced material and equipment suppliers.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership or experience leading multi-functional continuous yield improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the startup, development, and optimization of thin film process formulations to systematically improve product quality and reliability.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex assembly and fabrication process problems by applying structured failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, and SPC/FDC methodologies.
  • Coordinate and implement process, equipment, and material evaluations to implement continuous improvements at critical process steps.
  • Drive site-to-site process portability and handle new process baseline qualifications for seamless new product introductions (NPI).
  • Partner with and audit global material suppliers to successfully achieve quality, cost, and comprehensive risk management objectives.
  • Compile and evaluate rigorous test data to define processing requirements, operational limits, and material specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and scientific personnel to review design requirements and ensure absolute compatibility of manufacturing methods.
