The purpose of a Thermoforming Tooling Apprentice is to inspect and repair molds and dies both in a shop and production environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent.
  • Willingness to complete a four-year tool maker apprenticeship program.
  • Relevant past work experience.
  • Able to accept responsibility for work performed.
  • Able to work independently and with others.
  • Able to work independently in a potentially isolated area of the building.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Basic trouble shooting skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined abiding by all Amcor codes of ethics, safety polices and rules.
  • Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.
  • Ability to Safely use a forklift independently and maintain all applicable training requirements for use in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems related to tooling on thermoforming machines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures as specified in the QSI system.
  • Complete work assigned by Group Leader or Asst. Group Leader.
  • Communicate activities with Group Leader and other members of department.
  • Maintain neat and orderly appearance of the shop tooling equipment, and storage areas.
  • Obtain parts in emergency cases.
  • Assist in other departments as requested by Group Leader or Asst. Group Leader.
  • Seek training to stay current with job requirements.
  • Assume control of machine when a situation arises which has potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of machine.
